JSK PixHaul documentation
Installation
Install JSK PixHaul from the Chrome Web Store (Chromium browsers) and pin its icon to the toolbar. On first run there is nothing to configure — click the icon on any page and start scanning. A Firefox build is not available yet.
Setup and account
JSK PixHaul works with no account. To raise limits or unlock Pro:
- Create a JSKAPPS account and generate an API key in your JSKAPPS dashboard.
- In JSK PixHaul, open Settings → Account, paste the
jsk_live_…key, and click Connect. - Your plan badge in the header updates to Free or Pro.
Disconnect removes the stored key but keeps your local data. Connecting a key from a different account resets local data on that device (you'll be asked to confirm first).
Core concepts
- Tabs: Download (find and grab images), Resize and Compress (edit a file), and Settings.
- Instant / Free / Pro: Instant is the no-account state; Free is a registered account; Pro is paid. Your header badge shows which you're on, and Settings → Plans lists what each includes.
- Local pipeline: Every transform runs in an offscreen document with WebAssembly codecs. Images are never uploaded.
- Site access: Some features (reading file sizes on other domains, fetching hotlink-protected images) need per-site or all-sites permission, granted from Settings → Site access.
Feature guide
Scanning and filtering
Click Scan this page to list every image found in the page — including srcset, CSS backgrounds, SVG and links, across frames. Filter by min/max width and height, file type, source, aspect ratio, file size, and a URL substring or /regex/. Available on all tiers. Use Measure sizes to read real dimensions, and File sizes to read byte sizes (the latter needs site access for other domains).
Selecting and downloading
Select images by clicking, shift-clicking a range, Select all, or Invert. Download selected saves them individually (unlimited). Download ZIP bundles them: up to 15 with no account, 75 on Free, unlimited on Pro.
Rename on download
Choose Keep original, Sequence, Prefix + sequence, or a Custom pattern using {name}, {index}, {ext}, {date}, {site} and {alt}. A live preview shows the result. Available on all tiers.
Resize, crop, rotate
On the Resize tab, set a size by pixels, percentage, or a social-media preset (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube). Fit modes include scale, stretch, contain, cover and pad (with a fill colour). Crop with the drag overlay or numeric fields and aspect ratios; rotate, flip, and fine-rotate by angle. Available on all tiers.
Compress and export
Pick an output format (Original, WebP, JPEG, PNG) and a quality level, then Process. Pro adds AVIF output, a target file size (aim for a KB/MB budget), one-click compression presets, HEIC/HEIF conversion (drop in an Apple photo and export it as WebP/JPEG/PNG — there's no in-browser preview, but it still converts), and an optional quality check (SSIM) that scores the compressed image against the original. A warning appears before flattening transparency into JPEG.
Batch (multi-file)
Add several local files in the Batch panel and export them all as one ZIP with the current settings. Subject to the same ZIP cap as downloads.
Download history and re-run
Every ZIP download is saved to Settings → Download history (the most recent 20). Each entry shows the image count, source site and time, and a Re-run button re-issues the same job — a quick way to repeat a download or recover one after closing the panel. Available on all tiers; the re-run is re-capped to your current plan. Clear the list any time.
Pro acquisition tools
Upgrade to originals rewrites store thumbnails to their full-resolution version. All tabs scans every open http/https tab. Auto-scroll loads lazy galleries before scanning. Downloading hotlink-protected images uses Referer handling. These require Pro and, where cross-domain, site access.
Settings and options
- Account — connect/disconnect a JSKAPPS API key; see your plan.
- Plans — what Instant, Free and Pro each include.
- Appearance — theme: Auto (follows your operating system), Light or Dark. Remembered across sessions.
- Download history — your recent ZIP downloads, each re-runnable with one click; clear any time.
- Site access — grant/revoke per-site or all-sites access for cross-domain file sizes and fetching.
- Show / hide features — turn off Resize, Compress, Rename, Batch, Crop or Social presets to declutter the panel. Persisted across sessions.
- Sort / thumbnail size — grid sort order and tile size; persisted.
Keyboard shortcuts
JSK PixHaul has no custom keyboard shortcuts in this release. Standard selection modifiers work in the grid — for example Shift + click selects a range of images.
Limitations and known issues
- Scanning does not work on browser pages such as
chrome://…or the extension's own pages. - Dimension and file-size filters only apply to images once measured; use Measure sizes / File sizes first.
- Reading file sizes or fetching images on other domains needs site access.
- The "20–40% smaller" style compression claims are intentionally not made — savings depend on the source image and settings.
- Firefox is not supported yet.
Troubleshooting
- Nothing found on scan → the page loads images lazily; enable auto-scroll (Pro) or scroll the page before scanning.
- File sizes blank → grant the site under Settings → Site access.
- ZIP truncated → you hit the plan's ZIP cap; connect a free account or upgrade.
Uninstalling
Remove JSK PixHaul from your browser's extensions page. Uninstalling deletes everything JSK PixHaul stored locally (settings, profiles, cached account state).
