Getting started

1. Install TradeProof from AppSource (Excel) or the Google Workspace Marketplace (Sheets).
2. Open the panel: Home → TradeProof in Excel, or Extensions → TradeProof → Open
   TradeProof in Google Sheets.
3. Put your trades in a sheet, select them, and choose Read selected range: or Use
   everything on this sheet.
4. Check the column mapping, then Set up, then Build report.

Using TradeProof

Where the options live. Everything except the licence key is a cell on the
TradeProof — Settings sheet. That is deliberate: the settings travel with the workbook, so a
report can be reproduced months later by whoever opens the file, and a date gets a real date
cell rather than a cramped panel control.

Choosing analyses. The panel's tick boxes decide which sections the settings sheet
carries. Only the analyses you asked for are written, so the sheet stays readable.

Dates must be YYYY-MM-DD wherever you type one, whether in market phases, out-of-sample dates or
what-if ranges. 02/06/2025 is refused rather than guessed, because it means 2 June to half
the world and 6 February to the other half.

Reproducing a report. Same settings and same data produce the same numbers. Monte Carlo
uses a fixed seed, printed on its own sheet, so its table is reproducible too.

Troubleshooting

"That is a single cell — too small to hold a trade list."
Select the whole block of trades, or use Use everything on this sheet.

"…is a TradeProof report sheet, not your trade data."
The selection is on a sheet TradeProof generated. Switch to the sheet holding your own trades.

Leading zeros or long order ids have changed.
Excel rewrites 007 to 7 and an 18-digit id to scientific notation as it imports, before
TradeProof sees anything. Import the file with that column set to Text rather than pasting
it. TradeProof preserves what it is given; it cannot recover what Excel already discarded.

A date column was read as the wrong month.
Tick Dates are day-first (DD/MM) in the panel before reading the range.

The report says 0 trades, or far fewer than I have.
Check the column letters on the settings sheet, and check the date column imported as dates
rather than text. The panel reports how many rows it skipped and why.

Google Sheets: "You do not have permission to perform that action."
Check you can edit the spreadsheet, that the sheet is not protected (Data → Protect sheets
and ranges), and that you are signed in as the account that approved the add-on. If you use
several Google accounts in one browser, open the spreadsheet in that account's window.

Google Sheets: the report stopped part way.
Apps Script ends every execution after six minutes. TradeProof checkpoints its work and
continues; the panel reports progress. Leave the sidebar open.

A paid feature stayed locked after I entered my key.
Press Activate and read the message under the key box. It distinguishes a key that was
not recognised from one that could not be checked. If it says the key could not be checked,
the licence server was unreachable and you have the free tier for now; it is checked again
next time.

Frequently asked questions

Does TradeProof change my data? No. It reads your range and writes to new sheets prefixed
TradeProof —. Your own sheet is not modified.

Can I undo a report? Delete the TradeProof — sheets. Re-running replaces them rather
than adding duplicates.

Does my key travel in a shared workbook? No. In Excel it is stored per-user in the task
pane's own storage; in Google Sheets it is not stored at all and is re-entered each session.
Either way it is never written into the workbook, so sending the file does not send your key.

Is there a row limit? Without an account, 100 trades. With an account, no limit. 10,000
trades has been tested on both hosts.
