Overview
JSK Inkstone is a desktop application that generates QR Codes on your own computer. The content you encode — URLs, contact details, Wi-Fi passwords, spreadsheets — is processed locally and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. The app runs no analytics and no telemetry while you work. Two lifecycle moments open a page on this website in your browser — the first time you run the app, and (for the downloadable installer only) when you uninstall it; both are described under When the app opens a web page below, and neither carries any personal data.
Information we collect
We collect no personal information through the app.
The app does not send your codes, your files, your spreadsheets or their contents anywhere. While you use it there is no usage tracking, no crash reporting, no analytics, and no unique device identifier.
If you buy a Pro licence, the app sends your licence key to JSKAPPS to confirm the purchase is valid. That request carries the key in an authorisation header and has no request body — there is no field in it capable of carrying your content.
When the app opens a web page
Twice in the app's life it opens a page on this website in your browser. Both are one-way page views, and neither sends your account, email, licence key, or any code, file or content you made.
- The first time you run it, the app opens the getting-started guide (
/apps/jsk-inkstone/docs). It happens once — not again, and not after an update. - When you uninstall it, a short, optional feedback page opens. This happens only if you installed the downloadable
.exe; the Microsoft Store version has no uninstall page at all. The link carries three coarse values and nothing else: the app version, a rough how-long-you-had-it bucket (one of: same day, a week, a month, a quarter), and which plan you were on (instant, free or paid). No date, no account, no key.
How we use it
The licence key is used for exactly one purpose: to confirm what you are entitled to use. It is not used for profiling, marketing or analytics.
Permissions and why we need them
- File dialogs (open and save) — so you can choose which spreadsheet to read and where to write your codes. The app receives only the file you pick, in a single operation; it is not given browsing access to your disk.
- Application data folder — to store your settings and the reissue archive on your own machine.
- Clipboard (write only) — to copy a code or its content when you ask. The app cannot read your clipboard.
- Network to api.jskapps.com only — the licence check. The app is technically prevented from reaching any other address; this is enforced by the application's capability declaration, not merely by our code.
- Opening our own pages in your browser — for the first-run guide and the uninstall feedback page described above. This capability is restricted to
www.jskapps.com; the app cannot be used to open any other address.
Data storage and retention
Everything the app saves — settings, your brand kit, and the reissue archive of what you have exported — is written to your Windows application-data folder on your own machine. We hold none of it. It stays until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Sharing and third parties
We do not sell or share your data, because we do not have it. The only outbound request the app can make is the licence check described above.
Security
Your content never leaves your computer, which removes the largest category of risk entirely. The licence request is made over HTTPS. Files you export are written where you choose, with the permissions your operating system applies.
Your choices
- Use the app without an account at all. In that state it makes no network request whatsoever, and the Licence & network panel shows you the empty list. (The one-time first-run guide, above, opens in your browser regardless of account — it is a page view your browser makes, and nothing about you is sent.)
- Sign out at any time to return to the no-network state.
- Clear the reissue archive from inside the app, or delete the application-data folder.
- Uninstall through Windows Settings; your exported files are yours and are left alone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
